Alas, September is here.
I know the Summer’s almost over, but I wasn’t expecting to jump out of bed and run around my apartment this morning, closing practically all of my windows. Or was I expecting to need something heavier than a light sweater, while waiting for the bus after work, last night.
But alas, September is here.
The month where (depending where you live) we send the kiddies back to school, deflate the backyard pool, and pull down an extra blanket or two from the closet. For me, something’s always been a little bittersweet about September. Not because it’s my birth month, but because, although I know a change in seasons signal both inner and outter renewal for me, it signifies the end of one of my favorite seasons. And the beginning of the bitter, cold, long winter ahead.
But for now, my intentions are to enjoy the season of the moment, and all it has to offer, without dwelling on the weather to come. Things like the magnificent colors of the changing leaves, the cool, comfortable nights and brisk, clear mornings. Autumn weather recipes and fashion, and two of my favorite holidays, Halloween and Thanksgiving. And I can’t wait to get out and take some pictures of the scenery. And if time doesn’t permit, then I definitely have some awesome ideas for Fall-themed, indoor stills. Oh, the possibilities!
So, here’s to wishing everyone a GREAT month, and a great week ahead!
I’d love to hear about what inspires you this time of year!
